Guest Posting Guidelines

I only have so much knowledge on the different forms of storytelling. If there is a type of storytelling that seems to be underrepresented on the blog or missing entirely and you’re interested in providing some information, please contact me using the form below.

Of course, there are some rules for submitting a guest post.

  1. The post must be informational/educational about storytelling. No personal stories unless you tie it in to the information you’re presenting.
  2. Original posts only and do not post anywhere else, but feel free to share on all your social media platforms.
  3. The post must be at least 1000 words. 2000+ would be ideal. Use subheadings and keep paragraphs short.
  4. Include a short bio (50 words or less) as well as a link back to your blog/youtube channel/deviantart/whatever (choose only one, please). Please send me a 100×100 photo of yourself or your blog logo.
  5. Do not submit any photos besides your bio photo. I will provide images for the post. Note: If there are photos that are needed to explain a specific part in your post, you may ask to include it, but the photo must be unedited. Just keep in mind that I may decline your request for adding a photo.
  6. I will edit your post – mainly for SEO purposes, but if there is something that I feel uncomfortable putting on my blog (i.e., excessive swearing), I will change it or remove certain things entirely. However, I will do my best change as little as possible and I will not add anything to your posts besides an introduction.
  7. I will provide links back to other posts from The Sadness Monster where applicable.
  8. You may provide 3 links to blog posts on your blog.
  9. NO AFFILIATE LINKS.
  10. I will post guest posts every Monday.

When you contact me, please state that you are interested in doing a guest post and what you would like to write about. I’ll do my best to get back to you in 1 – 3 days.

Interview Guidelines

If you’re an expert in a certain form of storytelling or would like to share information about living with a mental illness, but not sure what exactly to write about for a full post I can help you by setting up an interview. I’ll send you a list of questions, you answer, send them back, and I’ll make the post.

Similar guidelines to guest posting.

  1. Personal stories are welcome in interviews! Just answer each question to the best of your abilities. 🙂
  2. You can choose to share information about any mental illness(es) you experience. You are not limited to talking just about depression.
  3. Please do not repost the interview anywhere else, but feel free to share on all your social media platforms.
  4. Include a short bio (50 words or less) as well as a link back to your blog/youtube channel/deviantart/whatever (choose only one, please). Please send me a 100×100 photo of yourself or your blog logo.
  5. Do not submit any photos besides your bio photo. I will provide images for the post.
  10. I will post interviews every Sunday.

Please send me a message stating that you would like to do an interview, tell me about yourself and what you would like the interview to focus on (storytelling, mental illness, or both). Please let me know if there are any topics that you would like to stay away from. I want to make sure I’m respecting your boundaries and limits – your well-being is priority #1!

Thanks in advance to those of you interested in contributing to my blog.
